Research Assistants
Bryce Leontowicz
I joined the Rawson group, having completed an undergraduate program in Biochemistry at Western. The transfer to a synthetic chemistry lab was a great challenge and my work on the benzothiadiazine project introduced me to a lot of heterocyclic synthesis, alongside a range of analytical techniques and understanding of scientific method. I went on to study Medicine at U. Toronto and am now working for CML Healthcare in Windsor.
Hugh Cowley
I moved to Canada to join the Rawson Group in 2011 after completing BA and MSci qualifications at the University of Cambridge. I worked on the inclusion chemistry of dithiadiazolyl radicals into porous materials, specifically naturally occuring zeolites such as faujasite. This provided me with a great opportunity to learn many analytical techniques such as EPR spectroscopy and powder x-ray diffraction as well as thermal methods such as DSC and TGA. I returned to the UK in 2013 and am currently working as a Journal Development Editor with the Royal Society of Chemistry.
